Questions that alway arise are what level should my child start at? How young it too young and when do they advance? While there are no easy answers, having taught children over the years, I Create Art has developed a very adaptable curriculum for all ages.
First, you are never too young and never too old for art. Toddlers can begin at any age with parental guidance. With a Mommy & Me Art Box, you will give them a great start. Many seniors have never put a pencil to paper, yet they have time to develop their skills. The first step is always the hardest and our best recommendation is to take your time, don't rush and pressure yourself. As a starting point, I Create Art Box, allows for many choices to begin with.
At I Create Art, our video instructions include ways to adapt the lesson for various ages. We recommend and encourage parents to sit & their child through the lesson. (This is especially true for young artists). You may think a 7 or 8 year old can do it alone, but they still need direction. Our instructions are clear but a child might not understand certain nuances that a parent can help with.
Our curriculum is also designed around educating the student, not only artistically, but about the subject matter. Studies have shown that retention rates are higher when teaching art & subject matter together. Each I Create Art Box includes educational resources & fun facts for students.
So, you are never too young or old for art. Don't rush, take your time, Remember you had to crawl before you walked and before you crawled, you spent time in the cradle thinking how to get it.
